Baltimore’s Sophia Kennedy has announcing details surrounding her third album ‘Squeeze Me’ out 23rd May 2025 via City Slang Records. The album promises to lean into Kennedy’s talent for constructing catchy melodies with psychedelic pop flourishes.
The album is previewed by ‘Rodeo’ her first new solo material since ‘Monsters’ (2021) which sees Kennedy conjure up a vivid soundscape utilising shimmering synth basslines, repetitive piano chords which combine to create a grand, woozy concoction.
“There’s a saying, “Don’t call us, we call you.“ That’s what Rodeo did. We didn’t call Rodeo, it called us. It wrote itself, immediate and direct. We’ve only ever played it live, with just piano and bass. Back in the studio, we gave it a groove and a psychedelic guitar. Rodeo is a journey into a dream-like state, perhaps a nightmarish one. It looks into a future with a lot of question marks. Rodeo doesn’t know where it’s headed, but I’m pretty sure it knows where it took off.”
