Gathering fans in Europe, destroying venues en route, The Minutes returned to Dublin for a headline show in The Academy, before heading back out on their relentless touring. The album launch show was a riot and this was no different.

Support on the night came in the form of local band Leaders of Men, a band whom rose to prominence with their ‘Play On The Day‘ victory granting them a slot as the Guinness Storehouse for Arthurs Day. Melodic and relaxed indie, they are tight and have some good songs, making it easy to see why they have garnered attention rather quickly. They were just an easing buffer for the main show however.

Packed to the rafters, a sight to behold when the headline act is local, it would make you proud to be Irish with such an engaging and absorbing atmosphere. The Minutes hit the accelerator from the off, and don’t even bother to check the rear view mirror. Ploughing through track after track from their stunning debut album Marcata, opening with In My Time Of Dying and rattling off fan favourites like Fleetwod, Black Keys and their latest single Heartbreaker as they accelerate to top speed. It’s raw unadulterated energy oozing from every pore as the crowd sweats every bead of salty rock and roll sweat with the band.

A stunning live show as we have come to expect. The Ronseal of bands out there, they are no holds barred rock and roll, and deliver it to within an inch of their lives (such is the vigor and intensity of the delivery). If your ears were not ringing and muscles aching as you left, you didn’t do the show as much justice as those three men on stage did.
