Sometimes we get to do some really cool things on Goldenplec, but rarely do we get to do something with so many connections to our past. We took the band with the number one single in Ireland right now – Kodaline – and brought them back to Swords. Colaiste Choilm to be exact which is where it all started for two members of the band, Ste Garrigan and Mark Prendergast. Back then they would only have had ‘High Hopes‘ for a career in music but as the months tick on, these guys are continually growing in stature worldwide.
So we were thrilled to both go back to the school where both Goldenplec itself and a band like Kodaline started from. These years would have made a lasting impression on the band, their writing, learning music and being given a platform to perform at multiple productions within the school. It’s safe to say that Colaiste Choilm has steered both these lads in the right direction (and we’re doing pretty good too). So we are delighted to have a beautifully shot acoustic session with the number one song in Ireland this week; ‘High Hopes‘ by Kodaline.
Don’t forget this is all in aid of raising awareness for Down Syndrome Ireland, so if you want to support our cause, you can buy a ticket to our finale show in Whelans on March 30th (featuring Raglans, Shadowplay, Elaine Mai and The Dirty 9s) for just €10 or if you want you can just throw us a donation online at MyCharity.ie. We have two Nokia Lumia 920s to give away, gig tickets, GrabOne voucher and more for anyone who buys a tickets or donates €5+ (e.g. a €20 donation is four raffle entries). Also if you’re a Kodaline fan, keep a few euros spare as the band is playing The Olympia Theatre in November.
