Matt Maltese announced himself to the  musical world with his superb debut album ‘Bad Contestant’ earlier this year. The South Londoner instantly drawing comparisons to lyrical heavyweights such as Morrissey and Father John Misty. ‘Bad Contestant’ was unusually sure-footed for a debut and we jumped at the chance to speak to Matt soon after its release – Read our interview here.

Since then Matt has been wowing crowds with his wit and powerful voice. Less and Less showcases both of these aspects of Maltese’s music perfectly as plaintive piano chords accompany him as he navigates the story of a shredded romance. This is echoed perfectly throughout the video, where we see the relationship move from happiness to despair, with Matt eventually struggling to move on with his life. Eventually he dies of a broken heart at a speed-dating session – in a conclusion which echoes Villagers recent video for Fool.

Matt Maltese will deliver is unique take on why modern life is rubbish in The Workman’s Club on November 20th. Tickets €13.00.
