Mullingar native FLYNN has released a brand new lyric video for his latest single entitled My Gold.
The track, produced by Joe Kerns (Previous work includes Little Mix, Ellie Goulding and Florence and the Machine) and co-written by Martin Luke Brown, is a pop anthem set to the tune of heartbreak. The songs mix of infectious hook and catchy, hard-hitting lyrics, with FLYNN’s soulful, soaring vocals, works remarkably well.
The track begins slow, with FLYNN’s vocals joined only by a low synth line and a simple piano melody. As the song continues, instrumentation is stacked one upon the other until the track reaches its triumphant crescendo come the final verse.
“My Gold is about losing someone that means the world to you, someone as valuable as gold. The song is about a break up that I went through. I could have done more at the time to hold onto the person but I let my work life get in the way and let her slip away, and now I live with the what ifs and the regret of not doing more to make it work” says FLYNN.
My Gold comes at the end of what has been a very successful year for FLYNN. His previous two singles, Red Light and Peace of Mind amassed over 4 million streams combined; My Gold already has over 100,00 streams since its release on Friday. With sets at festivals such as Forbidden Fruit and Longitude under his belt, and the recent announcement that he has been selected to play Eurosonic Noorderslang in January 2019, things don’t seem like slowing down anytime soon.
