It’s been a year of extreme high and lows for The Dubliners. A Christchurch Cathedral gig in front of Michael D (The Prez), Switzerland sell out shows, A Royal Albert Hall sell out on a UK tour, recording ‘The Rocky Road To Poland’ to support the boys in green and then sadly, founding member Barney McKenna passed away.

This left The Dubliners in a tough position but despite the passing of their banjo player and friend, they made the tough decision to continue with one of Barney’s favourite banjo players Gerry O’Connor. So the 50th anniversary tour will go on.

So celebrating 1962 to 2012, The Dubliners will headline two dates at Vicar Street on December 29th and 30th 2012 to close out the year. It’s a live concert interspersed with video footage and photography from the 50 years of the band showing the evolutions and emergence of an institution of Irish music.

Tickets for the show are €39.50 inclusive of booking fee and are on sale now from Ticketmaster.ie and outlets nationwide. Christmas being the perfect time to look back on a year and remember lost friends, these two gigs will provide a perfect tribute to their friend who will surely be there in spirit.
