It’s that time again, Oxegen 2011 is right around the corner. It’s Tuesday and the festivities kick off on Friday and as always we have sat down and thought about where team Goldenplec will be heading to help guide you with some extra choices.

This year we have picked out four acts from each day and because were really nice we thought we’d add in an alternative act around the same time so if the act we suggest just isn’t for you, there is an easy second option for that time slot.

We will be reporting from the Oxegen 2011 festival just like last year with daily reports and will be tweeting out from our reporters twitter account (@dionsis) so do follow us and let us know how your getting on or if something your seeing we should be at.

Leave us comments below with your thoughts and who you will be going to see as you might sway us last minute and create additions to our Oxegen 2011 must see acts.

Oxegen 2011 – Friday

Readers Wives (Hotpress Academy Stage 14:55)
Readers Wives are an act whom we’ve been keeping our eye on and recently they released Rachels Apartment their debut release and it was extremely well received by our reviewer who touts the album as a stepping stone to greater things. If you haven’t heard them yet then pop over. It’s Friday and this is where to kick your Oxegen 2011 off.
Alternative: The Riptide Movement (Green Spheres Stage 14:55)

House Of Pain (Vodafone Stage 16:50)
I don’t think I’ve even heard of these guys playing live in Dublin, not in the last few years for sure and for this reason alone you should have enough reason to pop along and catch these hip-hop heroes. There is a new album in the works, their first since 1996 so you could be treated to some tasty new House Of Pain tunes too.
Alternative: Peter Hook & The Light (Green Spheres Stage 17:00)

Weezer (Main Stage 17:55)
This is a bit of a selfish one, for my sins I haven’t caught them live and plan on rectifying this situation this weekend. Whilst I’m not the biggest fan of their more recent material, I still am a big Weezer fan and will be down the front for these lads.
Alternative: Whipping Boy (Green Spheres Stage 18:30)

Tinie Tempah (Vodafone Stage 19:45)
This choice is all about the live show, the spectacle. Tinie Tempah has been tearing it up on the live scene and alongside it has been pushing the visual aspect of his show to the max. There is little doubt this with be a joy for the eyes and the ears so head down.
Alternative : My Chemical Romance (Main Stage 19:25)

Oxegen 2011 – Saturday

The Minutes (Vodafone Stage 14:55)
Ireland have a new rock act to be proud of and their energetic, feedback, distortion laden live performances are lapping them up new fans everywhere they go. I had the pleasure of catching them on the roof of Music Makers in true rock and roll fashion. Expect a powerful performance
Alternative: Fox Avenue (Green Spheres 14:55)

British Sea Power (Vodafone Stage 16:00)
Once again an act I’ve been meaning to catch live only to be filled with remorse at not making the gig when I see on Twitter of Facebook after the gig just how awesome it has been. Thanks to Oxegen 2011 I’ll be able to right ANOTHER wrong on my musical history and catch these powerful indie rockers.
Alternative: Cashier No9 (Green Spheres 15:55)

Kitty Daisy & Lewis (Hotpress Academy Stage 18:20)
These guys are new on my radar after I checked out ‘Smoking In Heaven’ their 2011 album release. As such I now need to catch the live experience and if you haven’t heard of these guys yet I would definitely suggest either catching the live show or picking up the album.
Alternative: Plan B (Main Stage 18:25)

Foo Fighters (Main Stage 23:25)
The Foo’s came back this year with a brand new album ‘Wasting Light’ and it’s a rocking collection of tracks. Every time I have caught them live they have blown me away and I fully expect to be blown away again. A mix of new and old and I’ll be singing all the way back to the tent.
Alternative: The Bloody Beetroots Live (23:15)

Oxegen 2011 – Sunday

Fight Like Apes (Vodafone Stage 16:30)
Our favourite Irish electro-rockers and not just because MayKay gives great hugs, they are another act coming out of Ireland who’s live reputation preceeds themselves. The second album hasn’t drawn the plaudits the first did but I honestly love the theatrics and live dynamic of MayKay and Pockets. If you can then go see them!.
Alternative: Ke$ha (Main Stage 17:35)

Manic Street Preachers (Main Stage 17:35)
I last saw these guys in Sinnots on Arthurs day and they played for 30 minutes rattling off the hits. It was a cutback acoustic version and I imagine this will be the full band which won’t have the intimate feel the Sinnots performance had but with a back catalogue like theirs intimate or not it will be nothing short of awesome.
Alternative:  Ocean Colour Scene (Green Spheres 16:55)

Patrick Wolf (Hotpress Academy stage 19:25)
I knew NOTHING of Patrick Wolf before Lupercalia which arrived in the post to review and I gave it a listen, and another listen and soon I couldn’t turn it off, I was listening to it everywhere. So many tracks on it I want to hear live particularly ‘This City’ which is so fun and upbeat for a love song. Wolf has earned my presence with his new album and I’ll be picking up all his old stuff when I get back if he’s as good live as I reckon he will be.
Alternative: Slash (Main Stage 18:55)

Beyonce (Main Stage 20:35)
Well if you didn’t catch the Glastonbury spectacular on TV (or in person if you were lucky) it was only a spectacle and a half. She is another act back with a new album entitled ‘4’ and it remove Adelle from the top of the Irish charts which must have taken a huge amount of sales. I fully expect her to bring the live show-piece to Ireland and hopefully throw in something new too. Either way this performance at Oxegen 2011 is going to be a bit special.
Alternative: The National (Vodafone Stage 20:40)
