Dublin disco-punks MUNKY are back with their new single Closed Door Policy.

2019 was a busy year for MUNKY. Before we premiered their dystopian floor-filler Megaton, the band released their debut EP ‘Une, Deux, Trois, Chat’ and toured Europe with indie legends The Meat Puppets.

Like everyone else, due to COVID-19 the band have postponed their tour. Fittingly, Closed Door Policy is about “isolating oneself from others” but not just to flatten the curve. The band explain that their seclusion is “for fear of overexposing yourself, for fear of growing stale.”

Teaming up again with producer Dan Doherty (Fontaines D.C., Damien Dempsey, Somebody’s Child), Closed Door Policy boasts a dreamier sound than fans are used to.

Dripping in mellow cool, the track is carried by an infectious drum groove as guitar and bass playfully intertwine, creating a lush backdrop for singer Zac Stephenson’s soulful lament.

Featuring dynamic backing vocals from Toshín (one of our Plec Picks for this year) and Sinead McConville, the band blend their disco influences with shoegazey guitars and visual lyrics (“A leather bound anthology / Trimmed with gold and blue”), bringing the song to a showstopping crescendo.
