Irish indie pop artist Lydia Ford has shared ‘Leave The Country’ the final preview single from her upcoming debut album ‘Faking It’ which arrives on September 8th via Faction imprint Bloom Records.<‘

‘Leave The Country’, finds Lydia Ford exploring the all too familiar push/pull scenario which faces young Irish people today – the prospect of moving abroad to work or study and the homesickness which inevitably follows the move and the pressure to be fake happy.

Written in Berlin, the song reflects on the artist’s experience of moving to a new country with the hope of escaping her problems, only to realize that challenges are universal. As Ford herself explains, “I wanted the song to be fun and upbeat despite the slightly melancholic lyrics – almost teasing myself for being so naive and repeatedly running away.”

Ford’s debut album “Faking It” was born out of a collaboration with producer Sam Stevenson during Berlin’s lockdown in 2021. Drawing inspiration from her personal journey and the challenges of navigating one’s twenties.

Ford will follow up the release of ‘Faking It’ with a show in the Workman’s Club Cellar on September 21st.
