Greenhills’ finest producer and multi-instrumentalist Jacknife Lee (U2, REM, Taylor Swift) has hooked up with Lol Tolhurst (The Cure) and Budgie (Siouxsie & The Banshees) to form the unlikeliest of supergroups Lol Tolhurst x Budgie x Jacknife Lee, which sees the trio of music veterans experimenting with synths like never before.

The project was originally conceived as an instrumental foray and a chance to experiment with old friends and new ones with The Edge and Idles’ Mark Bowen invited to supply some guitar parts, while master orchestrator Davide Rossi (Goldfrapp, Coldplay) and brass specialist Jordan Katz (Father John Misty, Ghostface Killah) were also invited to contribute, with Lee sometimes manipulating their contributions beyond all recognition with effects and production trickery.

Eventually the decision to ask LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy to sing on a couple of songs during lockdown lead to other vocalists such as Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream) and Arrow de Wilde (Starcrawler) being invited to contribute.

The results of these strange experiments is the 13-track debut album ‘Los Angeles’ set for release November 3rd via PIAS. Listen to lead single and title-track ‘Los Angeles’ featuring James Murphy below. Los Angeles is available to pre-order here
