First Fortnight, a set of  events raising awareness for See Change, the national mental health stigma reduction partnership and Suicide Or Survive have just announced their inaugural student tour.

It will be headlined by Irish funk masters Republic of Loose when they play UCD in the student bar on October 10th. The Ruby Room at Royal Theatre, Galway / Mayo IT, Castlebar on October 11th and finally The Dome Bar, Waterford IT on October 12th.

Tickets are available now through the student unions.

Mental health prejudice and discrimination can do more lasting harm to people than a period of low mood or self-harm. In Ireland, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem at some point in our life. That’s enough of us to fill Croke Park 14 times over. It’s also six times the number of students who enrolled in all our Universities and all our ITs combined right across the county last year. To Goldenplec this seems like another very worthy cause that affects such a vast number of people so we do hope all the students out there not only support these gigs but get the message involved too.
