The GoldenPlec team will be hitting Bellurgan Park en masse this year. GoldenPlec will have our own GoldenPlec Grotto Stage at Vantastibar where we will be showcasing some of the best Irish music from around Ireland (see full lineup here).

We're a bit biased towards the acts on our stage but we've kept it open to the whole festival and picked our 'Must See Acts' (with a few of our own thrown in for good measure). But you know what they always say - "if in doubt - then stay at the GP stage all day" (or something like that).

We also may have some very late night shenanigans to announce closer to the time. But let's just say: keep the wee hours of Saturday night free.

The Beached Whales

When:
Sunday - GoldenPlec Grotto - 12am

What To Expect:

A Dundalk band made for festivals - playing just outside Dundalk at a festival =  no brainer.

The bands funk / reggae sound will be sure to cap off and end an amazing 3 days of Irish music on our GoldenPlec Grotto stage - no better fellas!

Set Highlight:

It's got to be Cool Down (check it out below) - simply for that laid-back pairing of bass and bass - you'll know what we mean!

What It Will Sound Like:

The Sour Seeds

When:

Sunday - DFEi stage - 8PM

What To Expect:

Finding that sweet spot between blues and garage rock is a tricky task, but it appears that Dublin based band The Sour Seeds have already made light work of it. Full of dynamic rough edges and swampy atmospherics, they strike the right balance in what will be one of the highlights of the DFEi stage over the weekend.

Set Highlight:

The Sour Seeds knock out a rather splendid cover of Tom Waits’ Lie To Me

What It Will Sound Like:

Bunk

When:

Sunday – Cricketers Balls – 11:40 PM

What To Expect:

We recently had Bunk play our #GoldenBeck 1st Birthday show along with Stomptown Brass and Loah and the guys really impressed the The Workmans crowd. The instrumental funk soul quartet will have you boogieing from the offset.

Set Highlight:

Cheese Hole - with a name like that, do we even need to explain?

What It Will Sound Like:

I’m Your Vinyl

When:

Friday – Vanhalla stage – 8PM

What To Expect:

Purveyors of sumptuous indie pop, the I’m Your Vinyl duo of Dana Donnelly and Ken McHugh construct swathes of cinematic atmosphere over uplifting beats. It’s been scientifically proven that killer songs like For You and Roll The Dice will bring a smile to your face.

Set Highlight:

The poptasticness of the aforementioned For You

What It Will Sound Like:

Naoise Roo

When:
Friday – Vanhalla stage – 10:10 PM

What To Expect:

A set full of dark, torrid tunes in the vein of PJ Harvey or Anna Calvi. Naoise Roo’s powerful vocals beckon listeners to the stage like the Siren’s calling sailors. She is much more than a just a brilliant voice, a beguiling performer full of wit who commands the stage and your attention.

Set Highlight:

Stick around for the haunting beauty of ‘For You’ sung under the beautiful lighting at the Vanhalla stage.

What It Will Sound Like:

Corner Boy

When:

Friday – Vanhalla Stage – 9 PM

What To Expect:

The band has seen some changes in the last 12months but are now back with their new single 'Untie the Noose' - which we premiered last week. Michael D'Arcy is a powerhouse of a folk-frontman so be sure to check them out.

Set Highlight:

Morning Morning - it never fails to get any crowd going!

What It Will Sound Like:

This Other Kingdom

When:

Saturday - GoldenPlec Grotto - 3PM

What To Expect:

This Other Kingdom pack so much into their expansive sound. Hints of The Doors, The Horrors and Interpol mesh together seamlessly to produce a psychedelic tension that sears throughout. It’s sure to be a bristling live set.

Set Highlight:

Don’t miss the apocalyptic Vacate The Horror

What It Will Sound Like:

We Were Giants

When:

Saturday – GoldenPlec Grotto – 5 PM

What To Expect:

Huge hooks with even bigger choruses. We can't recall how many times we've seen these guys and they just keep getting better and better. With shockingly few festival appearances to their name, we're more than delighted to welcome WWG to our GP stage. 2015 - keep an eye on these guys!

Set Highlight:

Hey You - slow build, slower release - but it's worth the wait.

What It Will Sound Like:

My Fellow Sponges

When:

Saturday – The Cricketers’ Ball - 8:20PM

What To Expect:

Galway’s My Fellow Sponges have built up a reputation of having some of the most imaginative music videos to emerge from the Irish independent scene in the last few years.  It’s a lot to live up to, but we’re in no doubt that they’re live performance will be anything less than memorable.

Set Highlight:

It wouldn’t be fair to single one moment as their set will be full of theatre.
What It Will Sound Like:

Wob!

When:

Sunday – Cricketers Balls – 10:30 PM

What To Expect:

Wob! play our #GoldenBeck show this Thursday in Dublin (Workmans) - we just couldn't wait to hear them!

From our review of Vantastival 2013 - "An instrumental drum and bass band on paper, the live entity sees them pull together much more influences from many other genre’s too. If you like your drum and bass loud, your musicianship creative and your dancing frantic; then you need WOB at your festival."
Set Highlight:

Also from the same review: "The near eight-minute Dive stands out in a diverse set, the likes of which you won’t see any other band play this summer."
