It’s been a bleak start to 2016 with the deaths of Lemmy and David Bowie to contend with, but what a swan song ‘Blackstar’ was to exit the stage with. Posthumous releases are generally sticky wickets because the material was never intended to see the light of day - we hope, unlike John Lennon, that Bowie’s lesser moments stay unheard, and only the tracks he wished to be heard are released in the future.

Here in GoldenPlec we’ve started the year with PlecPicks, our ones to watch series for 2016 focussing on artists we believe are set to have a bumper year ahead in pop, rock, indie, classical and hip hop. We’ve had a pretty good track record thus far, tipping All Tvvins, Girl Band, Wyvern Lingo, Daithi, The Academic, and Bitch Falcon in previous years. Check out all of this year’s selections here.

As ever, we’ve been consuming a large amount of new and old music. We seem to be mostly fighting off the cold with guitar-based jams and some classic dance tracks. Here’s a selection of our most listened to tunes this week. We kept it down to one Bowie song, so this is a what else we’ve been listening to this week playlist.
