RazorFader Retail Cover - Review. Many of our readers will be familiar with the relatively strong electro presence in the Irish music industry. One of the latest additions to this scene is Dublin duo RazorFader (RZR-FDR) who appear to be attempting to bring back the ’90s with their EP ‘Retail’.

Already a considerable success with over 3000 views in just over a week, Maybe undeniably has an air of the less popularised dance genres of the decade. Complete with a strong female vocal, it will be enjoyed by people that fondly remember listening to this type of music when it first came on our radios. Stairwell continues with a similar tempo, sounding like something that would’ve been played in Crawdaddy of a week night.

The five track EP finishes on Void.  This isn’t the strongest track to finish on after quite an impressive set of nostalgia-inducing numbers. It takes a while to build up, with the backing-track sounding a little like a demo on a Casio keyboard – maybe it is a demo on a Casio keyboard! Muffled vocals fade in and ultimately, simply fade out. It’s a rather anti-climatic end to an otherwise enjoyable EP.

Overall this is an understated offering from a lesser heard member of Dublin’s electronic music community. There is a hint of ambiance that eases through the tempered edges of the first four tracks which brings a different air to the EP than we have heard for other recent electo-outfits. Although not a show-stopper, ‘Retail’ is an amiable EP and RZR-FDR are a duo of great potential.
