Vocal driven, dark, electronic songwriter Trick Mist (Gavin Murray) returns after his 2016 7” single Crumbs Abound and a spell abroad in India.

Fraction, his brand new single, is out now on CD and digital, accompanied by a remix by Phare.

For the video, Murray’s long-term collaborator, director  Graham Patterson (also known for his work with T.P.M, Bleeding Heart Pigeons, and Æ MAK) serves up a bold, stark portrayal of sacrifice.

In Murray’s words Fraction is about “those times when you are living as a shadow of yourself. Those rough times when you’re working towards something but it takes its toll on your personality. I was heading to India and sacrifices needed to be made in order for that to happen. We hope when we make sacrifices that we experience reward. It’s frustrating but ultimately rewarding to come out the other side of it and feel like your full self again.

“What Graham has done with the visual is concealed the element of reward. It’s a striking, exposed and heavy portrayal of sacrifice and we never know whether it’s worth it or not.”

Fraction was composed with sounds captured by Murray in India. An original sonic palate ambitiously moulded into an expansive production that is confidently minimal, emotive, intense and climatic.

Trick Mist plays the Spirit Store, Dundalk, on Friday 29 December.
