Father Ray Kelly of the Oldcastle parish in Meath has become the most unexpected Irish music star in recent years after he gave newlyweds Chris and Leah O’Kane a special surprise at their wedding on Saturday.

As the ceremony was drawing to a close, Father Kelly took centre stage and delivered a powerful, personalised version of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah in honour of the happy couple.

What’s unsurprising however, considering his vocal ability, is that he has previously released two albums, ‘Simply Me’ and 2009’s ‘More Of Me!’ Rumour has it he’s working on a third. All proceeds from the albums went to North Westmeath Hospice and Palliative Care in Delvin.

Anyway, we’re sure to be hearing plenty more from Father Ray Kelly in the future.
