Dublin indie-electronic trio Almost Ghosts have just released a video for their new single Light Falls, the first new material since last years For This//Quiet Ground double A-side, which featured in GoldenPlec’s 100 Great Irish Songs playlist.

Light Falls finds the Dublin trio at their most compact pop position to date with sleek melodies interwoven across synth, bass and guitar. The influence of Two Door Cinema Club and M83 that permeated their previous releases remains but has taken a back seat to a more polished and precise approach to songwriting.

Almost Ghosts’ David Dooley (bass/synth) directed the video for Light Falls in Station Studios, Dublin, with the help of lighting designer, Conor Biddle (Overhead, The Albatross, Meltybrains?, Le Galaxie).

A scene from the ill-fated Scorsese/Jagger series Vinyl inspired the video for Light Falls – Dooley’s directorial debut.

“from that, we just ran with the idea of obscuring the band through the use of some old TVs and slowly removing them as the video progresses whilst being annoyingly insistent on doing all the set-ups in camera”.

Light Falls is out now and Almost Ghosts will play The Workman’s Club, Dublin on Thursday, August 11th with BARQ, Hvmmingbyrd and Carron. More info here.
