On this week’s episode of Totally Irish with John Barker, John takes us on a two-hour journey through the best new Irish music.

This week’s Totally Irish Tip of the Week in association with GoldenPlec is Gif. Gif are Dublin trio Lauren, Lara and Jordan who just released their debut single Lumiere last week. Lumiere explores the uncomfortable and awkward experience of being a young woman who has to deal with the unwanted attention of an older man. The band describe themselves as being an indie-punk act who name Sleater Kinney among their influences, and that can definitely be heard on Lumiere particularly at the chorus which comes crashing through the serene build up with a huge energy and urgency.

Gif have been quietly playing gigs around the city since last year, honing their tracks. They’ll be playing alongside Felonies and Pretty Happy this Saturday at the Workman’s Club if you want to check out their loud and fierce sound live for yourself. If you can’t make the gig you can check out Lumiere and it’s B-Side You Said below.

Also on this week’s show there’s new music from the likes of new music from Tandem Felix, Adam Garrett, Biig Piig, Nuxsense, Emmett, Strangeboy, Laoise, Shrug Life, Reylta, Xo Mo, Strangers With Guns, Sunken Foal, Sraddha and Insideawave.
