The Workman’s Club 1st Birthday Party is officially announced for the week of September 5th to 11th with a full week of awesome gigs.

The venue has seen some awesome gigs with the highlights probably the two sold out gigs of Anna Calvi and The Minutes who both blew reveller away. To celebrate the year of amazing music they will have the following events.

Tuesday September 6th
David Geraghty (Bell X 1) and Cathy Davey & friends (wink, wink)

Wednesday September 7th
Dublin’s newest comedy club ‘The Death of Comedy’; Featuring on September 7th will be A Betrayal of Penguins, Shane Langan, Edwin Sammon, Conor O’Toole and the house band Robotnik. Doors 8pm/Tickets €5 at the door and from www.ticketmaster.ie

Thursday September 8th
The Literary Death Match is putting on a scribe-rich thrillathon. Leading the all-star cast of judges is the one-and-only songstress Cathy Davey, funnyman Jarlath Regan and rising Irish literary star Trevor Byrne. Doors at 8/ Tickets €10 at the door and from www.ticketmaster.ie

Friday September 9th
Rarely Seen Above Ground is back from a summer touring Europe and coming to our gaff to celebrate. He will be joined live by a host of new band members and a whole new visual show. Doors at 8/Tickets €12 at the door and from www.ticketmaster.ie

Saturday September 10th
An evening with Turning Pirate and all of their marvelous motley musical crew. Tickets will be onsale shortly.

Sunday September 11th
Live Music All-Dayer featuring House of Dolls, Ghost Estates, Darren Hardiman & Overhead, the Albatross .
Doors will be 5.30pm/Admission will be FREE.

On top of all these events there also will be photographer Mark Earley from Ragged Words will be doing an exclusive exhibition of his work throughout our first year at The Workman’s Club

And this week we are kicking off The Golden Ticket –Design a T-shirt Competition! Simply design the winning logo for the new Workman’s Club t-shirts and bag yourself the Golden Ticket – Free pass for one person to The Workman’s Club gigs for one year! Waheyy! Oh and a free drink each time aswell! Terms and conditions apply, but not too many!

As of today we have competition cards ready for you in The Workman’s Club! Simply draw your design, drop it in the competition box and await the result from the judging panel on August 22nd. Closing date for entries is August 15th.
