You never really know what you’re going to get from a new release with The Burma. In the past, they’ve proven themselves to be a diverse outfit, borrowing influence from the likes of Tame Impala to late-decade Arctic Monkeys.

On new single Phoney Personality, their desire to continuously elevate themselves is evident, as they call out social media story-tellers selling a false life to those on the other side, with bouncing percussion and synth.

Recorded with Christian Best in Cork, Phoney Personality is the first single off the lads’ upcoming, currently untitled EP.

The Burma are supporting The Frank and Walters at the Galway Art Festival on 16 July and Timoleague Festival on 11 August.
