Skepta was the big winner at this year’s Ivor Novellos, taking home two awards.
The grime artist picked up the awards for Songwriter of the Year and Best Contemporary Song for his hit single Man.
Skepta shared the award for Man with QOTSA’s Josh Homme – Skepta used a riff from Homme’s song Regular John as the track’s main melodic hook.
Coldplay beat themselves and Adele to win the award for Most Performed Work of the year for their track Adventure of a Lifetime.
Michael Kiwanuka picked up the award for Best Song Lyrically and Musically for Black Man in a White World, beating Mystery Jets and Laura Mvula to the gong.
Florence Welch of Florence and The Machine picked up an award for success abroad, while Pulp, Bill Withers and Gary Numan all picked up awards with various names which basically amount to lifetime achievement awards.
