New Zealand’s best new band The Beths are hitting Dublin this week for a show in The Grand Social.

The Auckland quartet won critical acclaim for their fiery debut album ‘Future Me Hates Me’ and were crowned Paste Magazine’s best new act of 2018.

The Beths are named after frontwoman Elizabeth Stokes, who pens all of the bands self-deprecating material which has accumulated over 3 million streams on Spotify to date.

“I write kind of freeform, and most of it’s garbage, but later on after giving it some space, I’ll go back and circle parts, just certain lyrics that I think would work well in a song.” Stokes told Paste. “So [the lyrics] definitely would have been reactionary to what was happening on whatever day that I was scribbling.”

If you’re into the likes of Courtney Barnett and Nada Surf, The Beths may well be up your street.

The Beths play The Grand Social, Dublin on Wednesday 23rd January. Tickets €13.50.
