Kingfishr at 3Arena, Dublin on December 18th 2025
One of the most anticipated concerts of the year occurred on an absolutely freezing Thursday night, with Kingfishr taking the stage of the 3arena for the first of their two sold out shows. Not a single ticket to be found, even with resale, the room was electrified with anticipation well before the three Limerick lads took to the stage.
Opening the night were Indie-Rock darlings Cliffords, who replaced the scheduled Aaron Rowe and stepped up to the plate and smashed it. They effortlessly filled the arena as they belted out ‘Favourite Monster’, ‘Sleeping With Your Ghost’ and ‘Bittersweet’. The Cork act expressed gratitude for the chance to play the venue so many great artists had before – including Kneecap, Amble and CMAT earlier in the month.
Kingfishr’s set started with the familiar melody of ‘I Cried, I Wept’ filling the air as singer Eddie’s baritone sang the opening lyrics matched in energy by the 13,000 people in attendance. The band couldn’t contain their excitement, with numerous thank yous slipped in between verses letting their own excitement fuel the performance.
The trio were struck by utter disbelief at their own ability to command a crowd of this size, and the joy in the room was palpable as they launched into ‘Shadow’ with the nerves in the band starting to ease as Fitz (Eoin Fitzgibbon) and McGoo (Eoghan McGrath) showcased their skills on guitar and banjo. In a landmark year for Kingfishr, which saw their debut album land an Irish Number 1 breakthrough single ‘Killeagh’ going 4 times platinum the catchy melodies and relatable lyrics highlight how beloved the band is.
They’ve come a long way from their kitchen table in Limerick, and cite their engineering degrees for bringing them together before delivering Shot in the Dark from the middle of the crowd. The crowd couldn’t help themselves with chants of Olé, Olé, Olé filling the gaps between the songs. ‘Big Man On The Moon’ and ‘Diamonds & Roses’ receive huge reactions as the mandolin and banjo combine.
‘Eyes Don’t Lie’ one of their singles from 2022 commences the encore with mega-hit ‘Killeagh’ getting a second outing which they joke they’ll be roasted for, but the crowd didn’t seem to feel short-changed as they got to their feet for the repeat rendition. Ending the night with ‘Caroline’, further underlined just how far the band has come, earning more fans by the moment Kingfishr’s career will no doubt carry on in an upward trajectory for some time to come.
