Little Bear / Moscow Metro at Upstairs at Whelans | Gig of the Week

Gig of the Week this week is looking towards Upstairs @ Whelans on Wednesday.  BBC Introducing Ones to Watch and Other Voices favorites Little Bear are joining forces with Limerick and San Francisco hybird Moscow Metro.  They played alongside the likes of Beth Orton, Marina and the Diamonds and SOAK at Other Voices Derry, not bad company to be in. They also stood up to the task of standing in for the ill stricken Two Door Cinema Club in Derry too. Little Bear are definitely on the rise and Wednesday night will be the perfect setting to catch the young Derry band. Tickets are still available and only €6.

San Francisco rockers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are in the Academy tonight. That one is sold out and is set to be one hell of a show. R&B sensation NeYo is down in The O2, support comes in the form of Tulisa. Tickets are still available and start from €40.

When One Direction aren’t busy, off getting inked up and that, they have a knack of selling out arenas, that includes The Odyssey Arena in Belfast tonight and The O2 in Dublin on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you’re accompanying any Directioners, word to the wise – make sure to bring your ear plugs.

Having had to cancel their St Patrick’s day date with Dublin. Girls Aloud roll their Greatest Hits tour in to Belfast for two nights in The Odyssey Arena on Wednesday and Thursday before their Saturday night show in Dublin’s O2. Tickets for all dates are still available and start from €38.

The Olympia Theatre is going a little bit country this week. First up on Wednesday Pure Prairie League  frontman and multi award winning Vince Gill. Tickets for that one are still available and start from 49.50.  Southern belle and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood takes the reigns on Thursday night. Tickets are still available are start from €49.65.

Mark Oliver Everett and his ever changing EELS line up are in The Limelight in Belfast on Thursday and in The Olympia Theatre on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are still available and start from €33.

There are more gigs than you could shake your shamrocks at on Paddy’s Day, the following is just a taster of the delights on offer this weekend. Kicking off with The Workmans Club & Garage Extravaganza, an all day free event starting at 3pm, with the likes of The Urges, September Girls, Gangs, The #1s, Gav Xmas and Gav Icon, to name but a few. The Button Factory are welcoming back Le Galaxie, along with Ships, White Collar Boy and Sleep Thieves. There’s only a handful of tickets left and they are €15.  Around in The Olympia Theatre, Aslan will be churning out the usuals. Tickets are still available and are €25.
