With a accolades ranging from a Boiler Room documentary, a talk at Trinity College and a recent Tommy Tiernan show performance under his belt – Kojaque has been at the forefront of the Irish hip-hop renaissance since he first made waves with his lo-fi ‘Sunday Roast’ EP and solidified his position with the acclaimed ‘Deli Daydreams’ mixtape.

The Cabra MC returns with Town’s Dead, the title track from his upcoming debut album set for a 25 June release. The single creatively flips a sample of Girl Band’s Going Norway into a bold and raucous backdrop for Kojaque to flex the full range of his lyrical dexterity over the instrumental’s propulsive thump – waxing lyrical on the gentrification that’s been systematically hollowing out the spirit of his home town.

“Town’s Dead comes from the potential that I see in Dublin and in the people I’m surrounded by day in and day out. There’s nothing but talent and ambition among young people, I’m constantly reminded of that through the art and music that I see being made but I think so often the city grinds you down, it takes your hope and your ambition,” says Kojaque of the track.

“The title track and the album is a fight against what can sometimes feel inevitable, it’s a rejection of what people tell you is your destiny as a young person in the city, Town’s not dead it’s just Dormant,” he continues.
