It’s time to get all misty-eyed about Knockanstockan. Those wonderful people at Little Beast Films have made this lovingly crafted ode to Ireland’s finest independent festival. Directed by Luke Sweetman, it pays homage to the festival’s decade long rise to become arguably the jewel in the crown of the music festival season in Ireland.

From humble beginnings in The Knockan Inn, the festival developed thanks to major fundraising efforts undertaken by the young and idealistic musicians of theIrish underground scene of the day. Thanks to their efforts, Knockanstockan started out as an unlikely dream that has become a lasting reality.

Many of those acts have long since ceased to be but the spirit and camaraderie which they developed lives on in the festival today. The music scene in Dublin, in particular, was closed to many genres of music at the time with many venues showing little or no interest in niche genres. Knockanstockan provided those acts with a place to play and prove their popularity and has since provided a platform for many successful Irish acts.

As most of you know Knockanstockan is taking a break in 2017  but fear not it’s back in 2018 with bells and whistles on. In the meantime this mini documentary will only increase the longing to be back by the lakeside basking in the good time vibes.
