GoldenPlec would like to take this opportunity to wish a Happy International Women’s Day to all our readers.

It’s been quite a week for women in Irish music with a huge array of noteworthy happenings in the industry, which is laden-down with female talent at the moment, taking place. Most notably, SOAK became the second female winner of the Choice Music Prize for Album of the Year after Julie Feeney who took home the prize in the year of its conception.

Ruth Medjber and Louise Bruton launched their fantastic Women Of Notes/Mná Na Nótaí photo exhibition at Café 34 on Lennox Street with a performance from Saint Sister to kick things off in style. Elsewhere, we saw new releases from Wyvern Lingo and Rosie Carney while Electric Picnic announced its line-up, which features some major female stars in Haim, Lana Del Rey, Wolf Alice and AURORA.

Whelan’s played host to a Female Heroes concert featuring performances from the likes of I Am Niamh, Katie Laffan and Gráinne Hunt and finally, later this week, as part of F Festival – which aims to generate visibility and equality for women in the arts – The Grand Social will be the venue for a gig with a line-up consisting of Spines, Twin Headed Wolf, HvmmingByrd and more.

We decided to celebrate all this talent on International Women’s Day by creating a playlist dedicated solely to female artists and musicians. The playlist features 50 tracks, 25 Irish and 25 international, performed by 50+ women. Check it out below.
