This weekend see’s two of Ireland’s best small festivals, Castlepalooza and Indiependence, go head to head for the title of Gig of the Week. It’s being a tough decision, almost decided by a coin toss! However Feeder finally swung it for camp Mitchelstown, giving Indiependence the illustrious title of this weeks Gig of the Week. Joining Feeder on the bill are 2manydj’s, British Sea Power, Maverick Sabre, Delorentos, We Cut Corners, The Japanese Popstars, Jape, Scroobius Pip and many more. There’s also a Silent Disco, Spoken Word, No Sleep Til Sunday and Electric Dreams 80’s Nights. You can plan your weekend already with the stage times and breakdown here. There are limited tickets available ranging from €40-€99.
Meanwhile Castlepalooza down in Charville Castle in Tullamore has a wealth of Irish acts including Cars Loves Girls, Littke Xs for Eyes, Roisin O, Solar Bears, Jape, Le Galaxie, as-well as The Charlatans and Ghostpoet. There will also be bingo, workshops and short film screenings. Tickets still available and range from €35-€85. We have the stage times and breakdown here.
American singer-songwriter Ruthie Foster is in Whelans tonight if blues is your thing and tickets are €20. Liss Ard festival takes place too over in Skibbereen if you fancy going further west. For those not braving the elements for the bank holiday weekend, Feeder are playing The Academy this Friday. Tickets are €30, and still available. Beardyman plays The Button Factory on Saturday. Tickets are €15.
