Fresh from being drawn into the most ridiculous musical comparison in the history of the state we catch up with The Coronas' bassist Graham Knox in Golden Discs in Cork city for a quick coffee and a chat about what makes his ears happy.

With the group's sixth album ‘True love Waits’ freshly unleashed into the world, the Corkonian is in fine fettle, waxing lyrical about his favourite tracks from Weyes Blood, SBTRKT and Blood Orange amongst others.

As ever, photos and risk taking by the unstoppable Shane J. Horan.

Weyes Blood - Andromeda

Has been one of my favourite songs for the last year or two - I absolutely adore it! Love the chilled out vibes but with a slight country twist. It’s like if Patsy Cline met Beach House.

SBTRKT- New Dorp, New York

Just love the beat and features Ezra Koenig on guest vocals so if it’s OK with Ezra, it’s OK with me.

The Academic - Acting My Age

Great guys and a great song! They keep on going from strength to strength.

Blood Orange - Augustine

Was sitting in a Hard Rock Cafe in Dubai airport coming back from Australia and this was playing on the TV, but the sound was muted! The video just drew me in and I fell in love with the song before I even heard it.

James Vincent McMorrow - Headlights

Been a big fan of James for years and love his sound and production!

Sorcha Richardson - Don’t Talk About It

Back when we were able to travel myself and Danny were doing a mini radio tour around Germany and her album First Prize Bravery was one of the CDs we had so we listened to it a lot in the car. We were lucky enough to do some shows with her last year also and she’s amazing live!

Villagers - The Sunday Walker EP

We were recording in London when this was dropped and would listen to it religiously walking to the studio along the canal on those crisp sunny autumn mornings. I know I’m cheating listing an EP but it’s one of those pieces of music that has to be listened to in full!

Vampire Weekend - This Life

A lot of times you listen to a new Vampire Weekend song it can sound so alien and different to anything else that’s out there but after a few listens it seems so normal! At first I didn’t like this tune but now it’s a firm favourite of any of my playlists

Little Green Cars - The Song They Play Every Night

On of my all time favourite songs from one of my all time favourite Irish artists! They will be missed but looking forward to hearing more from Soda Blonde.

Gilbert O Sullivan - Alone Again Naturally

Even though I was surrounded by my little family during lockdown this was my the song that got my through some of the tougher days.
