This month's OSLO x GP Event is bringing you one of our Plec Pics 2020 Odd Morris!

Every month, we showcase the best of Irish music in The Workman's Club for free and this month is no different. Come down to Workman's on the 13th of March to enjoy music from one of Ireland's most exciting bands.

Having tipped Odd Morris for big things in January as part of our Plec Picks class of 2020 - read the interview here - we caught up with the lads to get them to select some of the tracks that have had an influence on the group.

ASOK - Hunter

"Just a class tune that brings us back to the Twisted Pepper days. The layering of beats until about one minute in is brilliant. It's definitely inspired a lot of rhythmic elements for us. (Daragh)

Crack Cloud - Drab Measure

"The sound of the rack tom in this track is enough to get you hooked, let alone the head-nodding bass. A 1/4 rhythm made interesting. Watch them play it live on YouTube to see the one handed drumming technique." (Daragh)

Arlo Parks - Cola

"Love the production on this track. Her voice is so soothing. She's in your ear, it's so close and warm. Also love how the snare and hats are so tight. Faultless." (Daragh)

Planxty - The Good Ship Kangaroo

"Just wait for the Uileann Pipes to come in. Great musicianship from Liam O Flynn, so much can be learned from this one song." (Daragh)

Loyle Carner - Desoleil

"One of Griff's favourite love songs is 'Lover, You Should've Come over' by Jeff Buckley, but this track is up there. Worlds apart, completely different genres and approach to lyricism. It's a kitchen sink love song, tangled up in bed-sheets on a Sunday morning while the coffee percolates downstairs. It's cosy and real."(Daragh)

Leonard Cohen - Memories

"Imagine singing to someone in early hours of the morning, roaring through a karaoke" (Mac)

Frank Ocean - Self Control

"the best opening line to a tune, cheeky" (Mac)

Squid - The Cleaner

"Tackles the monotony of a day job in a sprawling and groovy manner. (Mac)

Just Mustard - Seven

"I've had this on repeat since release, it's such an incredibly tense soundscape. When it opens up at the end it sounds like the whole world coming crashing down on that earlier dreamlike state ." (Mac)

Jon Hopkins - Sun Harmonics

"Absolute bliss, still gives me goosebumps. Has a similar sunset vibe to Porcelain by Moby. The rhythm snapping into place adds such a purposeful drive to the track, but it still feels so peaceful." (Mac)

Slowthai + MuraMasa - Deal Wiv It

“The lyrics are so sharp and witty and In a strange way, there is something uplifting about the delivery of it. Its one of those tunes that’s always played in the car on the way home from rehearsal. Love it “ (Kris)

Alexandra Savior - The Archer

“It sounds like driving through a desert in a convertible at sunset” (Kris)

OSLO x GP is a monthly event at The Workman's Club featuring some of the most exciting bands on the circuit at the moment. Doors are at 11PM and it's free in (!!) so be sure to get down early to avoid disappointment!
