It seems like they never left the TV. They announced their candidacy for the Eurovision with their track ‘Lipstick’ but last week it leaked forcing the organisers of the live event on the Late Late show to change the voting system to put less emphasis on the public vote.

Despite that, they managed to procure the needed 6 points to leapfrog Nikki Kavanagh at the last minute and top the voting for the Eurovision decider to pick Irelands contestant. John and Edward Grimes will now take their showpiece onwards to Dusseldorf in Germany in May 12th for the Semi Finals.

If they make the top ten of the Semi Finals they will be put into the overall final to contest for the Eurovision title on May 14th.

I guess it will come down to the spectacle they put on, if they can win the hearts of the block voters then maybe there’s a chance, a lot of people will put a lot of focus on their vocals and it being a song contest but lets be fair, it’s not a song contest and sending Jedward is no more ridiculous than sending a turkey to represent us. It’s a showpiece and done right Jedward could possibly take some unexpected points.

No doubt we’ll all be tuned in to see what kind of show they come up with for this. crack out the wind machines, Eurovision is back.
