This week is looking pretty busy between last minute Christmas shopping, checking out what you may have missed on end of year ‘Best of’ lists (have you seen ours?), avoiding doing anything constructive in work other than planning cheeky Christmas drinks, you also have a rake of superb gigs to check out, all from Irish acts.
Our penultimate Gig of the Week of 2012 has to go to Delorentos. 2012 has seen the lads go from strength to strength with countless festival performances, two tours of Ireland, their best album yet and a brilliant #carefor campaign on Twitter. It’s their biggest headline show to date and takes place on Friday in Vicar Street. Tickets are €20 and still available. Reports from the rest of their Bullet In A Gun tour have been excellent, so make sure to get a ticket, it’s gonna be a special one. Oh and did we mention the sensational We Cut Corners are supporting?
Another band racking up great reviews and a celebrity following, including Sir Elton John, are Cavan four piece The Strypes. They have their biggest show yet in Whelans tonight and that one is sold out, we reckon we’ll be seeing a lot of these guys in 2013. Glen Hansard has another sold out gig down in Vicar Street tonight.
After a backing from One Direction’s Niall Horan, it’s no surprise Hudson Taylor have sold out The Academy 2 on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
The Minutes play The Savoy in Cork on Thursday and The Limelight in Belfast on Friday. Tickets for Cork are €12.75 and tickets for Belfast are £10.25 and still available for both. Meanwhile Le Galaxie will be doing what they do best in The Workmans Club on Friday and Saturday. Both shows are sold out.
Tickets for Damien Dempsey in Vicar Street are still available and start from €30.
