Ireland’s own international pop sensation CMAT is back with her brilliant fifth single 2 Wrecked 2 Care, a slice of Americana flavoured delight. Confirmed for Primavera 2022 and with an upcoming UK tour alongside Declan McKenna on the horizon; CMAT describes the song as one that “would have happened if Sheryl Crow ever had to work in a TK Maxx.”

“I wrote it during a particularly bad period for my sleeping pattern.” CMAT explains of the song’s inspiration. “It’s a song about not being able to fall asleep, and anxiety/stress-related insomnia, something I have suffered from for years. I think I developed it during years of low-paying, irregular shift work.”

“I’m fascinated by the Jekyll and Hyde effect of how a sliding scale of a lack of sleep completely changes your mood, and how you present yourself as a person. Does a regular lack of sleep force you to evolve into a different person entirely? Different thoughts? Different dreams? Different life than the one you would have if you had the freedom to live healthily?” she elaborates on the track that drips with the influence of ABBA as much as the aforementioned Crow.

Besides her upcoming slots at Primavera and on Declan McKenna’s UK tour, CMAT has also sold out her headline debuts in Dublin, Cork and London this November and has announced her biggest show to date at The Academy, Dublin on 11th March 2022. Tickets on go on sale 25th June at 10am here.
