Kildare slow-jam sensation April has shared the second glimpse of her upcoming EP ‘Luna’, out October 23. ‘Watching You Disappear,’ see April continue to explore a mix of jazz and R’n’B soundscapes with the help of producer Fred Macpherson from UK indie outfit Spector, ‘Luna’ will also feature the production skills of Kojaque on ‘Would You Let Me In.’

“Basically we worked over zoom calls during lockdown and produced the songs back and forth together. I was very lucky to have had the songs written before lockdown because I had such a creative block,” says April, who recently signed a major label deal with EMI.

“Luna is a step forward from New Conditions for me – I definitely feel like I’m maturing as an artist, and this EP feels more like me now than the last. I’m definitely still experimenting and finding my sound, I love so many genres it’s hard to just stick to one and it was exciting that I got to try different things this time.”

“I wrote ‘Watching You Disappear’ at a time I was going out loads and doing things to take my mind off things and feelings, so the title is basically about me watching someone fade away in my mind as I preoccupy my brain! I used to listen to “I’ll come too” by James Blake every night I’d go out, so I put the lyric “I’m in that kinda mood” in my song as a little homage.”

One of the breakthrough Irish musical talents of 2020 April has amassed nearly 2 million streams on Spotify since her debut release earlier this year. YOu can’t help but think that those numbers would be doubled or tripled if April had the ability to showcase her talents with live shows currently – she certainly put on an impressive display at our Block Party Jam back in December.
