Music from Ireland and MCD are bringing nine Irish acts to this year’s Great Escape festival. The Brighton showcase which takes place May 13-14 will features performances from Plec Picks Soda Blonde, Smoothboi Ezra, Aby Coulibaly and Alex Gough as well as Sprints, The Zen Arcade, Meltsand Robert grace.

The event was moved online due to Covid with the majority of the 9 performances from Irish acts recorded in the Olympia Theatre earlier this month.

The UK is a vital market for Irish acts making that next career leap and the Great Escape has been an incredibly important moment in that build. Music from Ireland’s showcasing of these acts to UK and international buyers, bookers, labels etc will help them grow in that market and beyond.  It is especially heartening in a post-Brexit and Covid world to see such a diversity of Irish acts showcasing at TGE21,” says FMC’s Angela Dorgan.

Other Irish acts previously announced for the festival include Sinead O’Brien, Strange Boy, Tebi Rex and Hazey Haze.

The event showcases artists from all over the UK and Europe, and this year they are making the online music version free to access via https://greatescapefestival.com/
