Ele Breslin AKA Zapho, is back with a video for her brand new single Fight Me, the second in a six-part plan by the Dublin artist to establish herself in the Irish music scene and beyond.
“I’ve kind of been under the radar for the last couple of years but I’m trying to get myself out there now and the way I want to do this is to collaborate with other artists,” Zapho told us, back in January, around the release of 100 Ways featuring Ryan O’Shaughnessy. That track has gone on to become Zapho’s most successful track to date with circa 60,000 streams on Spotify (at the time of writing).
“I’ve been kind of quietly bubbling under the radar for the last couple of years, I wanted to come up with a strong strategy. I have 20 songs – an album – ready, I have six music videos and five collaborations ready to go. The intention is to release a collaboration, then a Zapho song and so on – this way, we could all be constantly building from each other’s profiles” she says, noting. “You have to be a businessperson, it’s no longer really just about the music. I find music is just 10%, the gift-wrapping, packaging, presentation, marketing and PR is the other 90%.”
A dark rinse of reggae and disco vibes with a memorable refrain, Fight Me is the next step in the evolution of Zapho’s carefully plotted plan. Can she ramp it up further in part 3? We certainly hope so.
