Up-and-coming Irish rocker Spider features on the latest EP from critically acclaimed outfit Metronomy. The young artist who has released two EPs thus far including 2024’s ‘an object of desire’ appears on ‘Typical,’ the closing track of the electronic indie pop act’s ‘Posse EP Volume 2’ alongside some top names in the UK music scene: Lynks, TaliaBle and newly crowned Ivors Rising Star winner Master Peace.

The Posse series began in 2021 with ‘Posse EP Volume 1’ as Metronomy founder and central figure Joe Mount sought to give a helping hand to up-and-coming artists by collaborating with them,  expanding his own musical horizons in the process.

“It’s realising you have a value within the music industry” Mount comments, “for newer artists you can do something. You have a reach they don’t and they’re excited by it. It’s a great way of feeling connected to a wave like the one I was part of”.

“The more I do stuff with other people the more excited I get about doing my own music again… For me it’s a way of separating myself from the last 20 years of what I’ve done. You want to be proud of it – and then move on.”

Indeed this is not the first time Mount has worked with a young Irish artist. ‘Posse EP Volume 1’ features Cork’s Biig Piig on the the track ‘405’ which has amassed over 16.8 million streams (Spotify) since its release. Hopefully, ‘Typical’ will provide a similar boost to Spider’s career and ‘Posse EP Volume 3’ whenever it arrives will continue its tradition of showcasing Irish artists. Yoda knows there’s no shortage of options for Mount to chose from.
