Cork’s best boi Yenkee is back with another preview of his debut album Night Golf. ‘Last Saturday Night’ follows recent singles ‘Hand Luggage’ and ‘Los Angelus’ and finds Yenkee confronting the fear after a big night out playing one too many rounds of golf.

“This song is about “The Fear”. The fear after a night out is the scariest thing. You question your very existence. You don’t really trust yourself and your memory of the night before can be wildly exaggerated and bizarre. I’m glad I don’t really experience it anymore but I wanted to capture that darkness but also the silliness and absurdity of being young and going on nights out.”

The accompanying music video pays homage to Stanley Kubrick’s 1975 epic historical movie Barry Lyndon, in which an Irish rogue wins the heart of a rich widow . Yenkee says “My friend Fergal had this idea to recreate Barry Lyndon, but I asked not to be in it. He said yes but I thought I’d show up and watch it be filmed. I was on my way to Brighton, where it was filmed, and Fergal texted me “One of the actors dropped out, will you be in it?”, so I reluctantly agreed to be in it. I was dressed up like a lunatic all day. It ended up being great fun”.

‘Night Golf’ arrives in all good record stores, streaming services and country clubs on October 25th via SoftBoy Records and is available to pre-order here
