The winners of the RTE Radio One Folk Awards have been announced. Recipients include: Lankum, Steve Cooney, Radie Peat, Mick Flannery & SON. while the late Frank Harte joined the Hall Of Fame.
Steve Coonney was the big winner on the night taking home four awards including Best Folk album for ‘Ceol Ársa Cláirsí’ and the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Lankum won Best Folk Group.
The awards were graced by a personal video message from The President of Ireland Micheal D. Higgins who said “Let us all acknowledge this evening, at what is a celebratory event, the importance of our music and our musicians especially during this most difficult time.”
