Our friends at Whelan’s are branching out their already high impact on the Irish music scene with a further arm of support by launching a record label.
In association with MPI, they will open up with the release of the ‘Long Live’ EP from Raglans. The EP is to be launched in Whelan’s on May 25th 2012. The EP will be released on the newly formed Whelan’s Records. With Dave Allen heavily involved you have to think the eye for quality will be there and Whelan’s track record of support small bands is huge. A small development fund has been fenced off for this project so the next few months will be hugely interesting.
Dave Allen from Whelan’s was quoted as saying
‘we felt it was time to expand from the live music scene and invest in Irish talent to help them get their recording career started. It’s an obvious and long anticipated association that we’re very excited about that can also offer the opportunity to showcase talent at the venue while releasing their records both here and abroad’
