Weyes Blood aka Natalie Mering is bringing her critically acclaimed album ‘Titanic Rising’ to The Button Factory this October.

Four albums into her career Weyes Blood is finally realising her own vision. “I used to want to belong,” Natalie says.I realized I had to forge my own path. Nobody was going to do that for me. That was liberating. I became a Joan of Arc solo musician.”

As a child Mering was obsessed by the movie Titanic “It was engineered for little girls and had its own mythology,” she explains noting that the blockbuster romance actually offered a story about loss born of man’s hubris. “It’s so symbolic that The Titanic would crash into an iceberg, and now that iceberg is melting, sinking civilization.”

The track Movies marks another Titanic-related epiphany, “that movies had been brainwashing people and their ideas about romantic love.”

Weyes Blood live at The Button Factory, 26th October 2019. Tickets €20.00 inclusive of booking fee, on sale Wednesday 22nd May at 10AM.
