This is the second week of The Plec Picks where we included some of what our readers are listening to. Heritage Centre popped by and submitted what they’re listening to this week which was nice!

Incase you’re a Plec Pick virgin and are a little confused about what The Plec Picks are, the GP team lay down what their most listened to songs of the week are and we make a playlist of them for everyone to listen to. It’s interesting to hear what everyone’s listening to and it’s a chance to cast your ears on something different and maybe discover some tastey new music.

Click play once (it’s a playlist) and it’ll cycle through all the videos / songs (so you can just leave the tab open and keep listening).

If you come across something you like, click the social media icons beside the artist and throw them a like/follow and explore what more the artist has to offer.

As always, we hope you enjoy this week’s offerings and be sure to let us know what you’re listening to and you might make it into next week’s edition!

Playlist Me!

What’s in there?

Villagers // The Waves (Chosen by Paul Dowd)

I like it because its very easy to listen to , upbeat and different than there last album.Being a huge villagers fan I love the direction there going with there new album . Definitely a album to watch out for i believe.

Of Monsters and Men // Mountain Sound (Chosen by David Melia)

Disclosure // Latch (Chosen by Nicola Byrne)

What does love at first sight sound like? The Disclosure brothers take a decent guess with this track. The video also includes various attractive people kissing–can’t hurt!

The Beards // You should consider having sex with a bearded man. (Chosen by Claire Kane)

I have GP’s own Sean Noone to thank for this being my “most listened to” song this week. It is literally the truest song I have ever heard.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis // Thrift Shop (Chosen by Claire Beck)

‘I wear your grandad’s clothes, I look incredible’…
I have been singing this ALL WEEK. Clever, catchy jam from the new @Macklemore and @RyanLewis album The Heist. The video is pretty fabalis also. Prepare to get addicted.

Eddie Bo // Check Your Bucket (Chosen by Sean Conroy)

From the superb ‘SoulJazz Records Presents: New Orleans Funk’ compilation, Eddie Bo talks you through the perils of not checking for holes in your, ahem, “love bucket”.

Scott Matthews // This is Love. (Chosen by Alice Goodwin)

This is such a ridiculously pretty song. Scott Matthews is way to unknown for what he does. With some amazing guitar parts, great vocals and some really insanely gorgeous music, he’s definitely worth checking out!

Jessie Ware // Night Light (Chosen by Ros Madigan)

Been listening to her album all week and can’t get enough, keep repeating this track over and over. One of the most delicate and engaging albums of the year. Playing Dublin soon – Sugar Club, 5th November.

Bats // Wolfwrangler (Chosen by Stephen Byrne)

Wolfwrangler is the first single to be taken from BATS new album The Sleep Of Reason. The album is the last ever release on Richter Collective and signals the end of an era for Irish music and independent labels. The track itself is classic pulsating science rock at its finest but what else would you expect from BATS.

Dan Croll // From Nowhere (Chosen by Heritage Centre)

Band of Horses // Compliments (Chosen by Niall Swan)

I’ve been preparing myself for the Band of Horses gig in the Olympia next month with this uplifting song getting the repeat treatment more so than others.

Delorentos // Did We Ever Really Try? (Chosen by Sean Smyth)

About 2 months ago, I got access to Delorentos’ newest album, Little Sparks, thanks to Deezer and it’s easily been one of my most listened to albums since then.

Simply fantastic and this is just a solid, up-beat, indie rock song.

The Saturday Captains // Lost Cargo (Chosen by Aidan Cuffe)

A simple, gently rolling song, the infectiously gets me tapping on the desk and makes my work colleague moan because I’m tapping too much.

The Other Tribe // Skirts (Chosen by @RattlingBones on Twitter)

Dance the Autumn blues away! :D

PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING // SPITFIRE (Chosen by Kieran Frost)

It’s like an old war movie, but on my iPhone old chappy.

Permanent Deja Vu // Dark Heat, Dark Love (Chosen by Bernard O’Rourke)

What really gets me about this song is its a sharply rhythmic mix of dark and light. There is also something very haunting about the vocals.

Heathers // Find A Way (Chosen by Yan Bourke)

The new Heathers album is brilliant, and I really love it for what it is, but this live version of Find A Way from Eurosonic 2011 is absolutely amazing. It shows that there’s a different direction they might have gone in whichI hope they do get a chance to explore some time.

Joshua Kadison // Jessie (Chosen by Michelle Geraghty)

This popped on the radio the other day. I hadn’t heard it in years and now its in my head. Brings back memories…. And its always nice to hear how Moses is :-)

Marina And The Diamonds // How To Be A Heartbreaker (Chosen by Aisling O’Brien)

Ridiculously excited for Marina and the Diamonds on Wednesday. I have this on repeat. It’s actually released this week but unfortunately doesn’t feature on Electra Heart as it was written a week after it was released.

Ben Folds Five // Missing The War (Chosen by Liam Doyle)

I’ve been on a BFF buzz for the last week in preparation for their gig in November. I’d consider this to be a stand-out track from them. There’s some great lyrics and I love the harmonies.

Kelly Clarkson // Dark Side (Chosen by Abe Tarrush)

Reeling from her smash of a show this week in Dublin, my choice was somewhat inevitable. Dark Side is one of Ms Clarkson’s latest anthems, hitting home the moral that you gotta take the good with the bad. With a track like the lovechild of a lullaby and a rock concert, its reassuring to hear pop without the rose-coloured glasses.

Built To Spill // Gone (Chosen by Jonathan Klein)

6 minutes of intense epicness

Nick Drake // One Of These Things First (Chosen by Charlie Livingstone on Facebook)
