Welcome to this week’s Plec Picks!

Incase you’ve never experienced The Plec Picks (listen to older playlists here) or are a little confused about what The Plec Picks are, the GP team jot down what their most listened to songs of the week are and we make a lovely playlist of all the songs for everyone to enjoy. It’s interesting to hear what everyone’s listening to and it’s a chance to hear something different. And you might even discover your new favourite band! As there’s a lot of different tastes in the mix here, every song isn’t going to be to everyone’s liking so feel free to skip to the next song if there’s something that doesn’t float your boat.

Click play once (it’s a playlist) and it’ll cycle through all the videos / songs (so you can just leave the tab open and keep listening).

If you come across something you like, click the social media icons beside the artist and throw them a like/follow and explore what more the artist has to offer.

We hope you enjoy this week’s offerings and be sure to let us know what you’re listening to and you might make it into next week’s edition!

What’s in there?

Animal Collective // Brothersport (Chosen by Sean Noone)

Follow @TheRealAnCo

Of the 100s of gigs I’ve been to in my life, I’ve never had more fun than I had during this song last Tuesday. It took Vicar Street from chin-stroke central to a bouncy free-for-all. It was unique.

Janet Jackson // If (Kaytranada Remix) (Chosen by @fiodhna_hm)

Mojo GoGo // Like the Sun (Chosen by Bernard O’Rourke)

The new single from energetic Donegal rockers Mojo GoGo is absolutely jumping with life and energy. Reminds me a bit of Biffy Clyro in a way…

Lee Fields & The Expressions // Still Hanging On (Chosen by Justin McDaid)

The great man wowed The Sugar Club at the weekend and this track from his latest ‘Faithful Ma’ album proves that after 43 years in the business he’s still delivering solid gold cuts.

Alias Empire // Lay Down (Chosen by Stuart Flood)

Ugly Casanova // Smoke Like Ribbons (Chosen by Jonathan Klein)

Ugly Casanova are the side-project of Modest Mouse frontman Issac Brock, and their only album, Sharpen Your Teeth is a wonderful blend of folk and indie-rock. This track features a haunting musical saw and gentle harmonies that swirl around beautifully.

Sinead McNally // Something Has Changed (Chosen by @steph_louise21)

The Cribs // Anna (Chosen by Claire Kane)

This is the latest release off ‘In The Belly of the Brazen Bull’ and it went down a treat at the band’s gig in The Academy last week. Haven’t been able to stop humming it since.

Childish Gambino // Heartbeat (Chosen by Sean Smyth)

Oh, Donald… Why did you go and cancel your gig with us a few months ago? It still makes me sad thinking about it :(

But his album (Camp) is one of my most listened to albums this year so I can’t be too angry with him!

Myles Manley & The Little People // Easter Morning (Chosen by Stephen Byrne)

It’s not so much the song but its fantastic video which has had me glued to Youtube this week. It features some stunning recreations of renaissance paintings and the lighting is particularly wonderful throughout.

Newno2 // Make it Home (Chosen by Eamon Ambrose)

Finally a Beatles offspring with talent!

Dario G // Sunchyme (Chosen by Michelle Geraghty)

Wow can’t believe this song is 15 years old!! Brings me back to college summers… bliss!! It never feels like winter when this song is playing!! :-)

Roisin O // Tea Song (Chosen by Aidan Cuffe)

Big lover of tea, you only have to look at the Coast to Coast: Tea and Toast to see that. Well Roisin O’s latest video came out last week for her track ‘Tea Song’ and the video was pieced together with video of the Irish #TeaSpora

It’s a lovely video to link those abroad to home. Check it out.

Matt Corby // Brother (Chosen by Aisling McWeeney)
