Fancy hearing some new tunes and broadening your musical horizons? We’ll help you with that so!

Incase you’ve never experienced The Plec Picks (listen to older playlists here) or are a little confused about what The Plec Picks are, the GP team jot down what their most listened to songs of the week are and we make a lovely playlist of all the songs for everyone to enjoy. It’s interesting to hear what everyone is listening to and it’s a chance to treat your ear holes to something a bit out of the ordinary. And you never know, you may even discover your new favourite band!

As there’s a lot of different tastes in the mix here, every song might not be to everyone’s liking so feel free to skip to the next song if there’s something that doesn’t quite float your boat.

Click play once (it’s a playlist) and it’ll cycle through all the videos / songs (so you can just leave the tab open and keep listening).

If you do come across something you like, scroll on down the page a bit, be lovely and click the social media icons beside the artist and throw them a like/follow and explore what more they has to offer. Show your support.

We hope you enjoy this week’s offerings and be sure to let us know what you’re listening to and you might make it into next week’s edition! And sure, while you’re here you may aswell subscribe to us on YouTube to see when we add new video content and make new Plec Pick playlists.

What’s in there?

Arctic Monkeys // The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala (Chosen by Aisling O’Brien)

All these fine summer days have me day dreaming which has gotten me super excited for festival season but mostly for Electric Picnic and the return of Arctic Monkeys. So needless to say they’ve been on repeat this week, especially their latest offering Suck It & See, excellent album and I love this song.

Mos Def // Fear Not Of Man (Chosen by Alex Millar)

All that sunshine brings out the love for old skool beats and there’s not much better than ‘Black On Both Sides’. And my god, the organ on this shiz is something else.

Charli XCX // So Far Away (Chosen by John Paul Feehily)

Great modern use of two old Todd Rundgren samples. Catchy and cool.

Low // Words (Chosen by Jonathan Klein)

Slow, vague and slightly indistinct, Low are a band that seem to play in slow motion. Backed by a ridiculously simple drum beat and a repetitive bassline, the band somehow create a delicate and tender atmosphere, that is just lovely to relax to.

Ben Pearce // Patticakes (Chosen by Nicola Byrne)

This sun-drenched rehash of Quincy Jones’ ‘Betcha Wouldn’t Hurt Me’ is the perfect accompaniment to these long summer nights.

Fenech-Soler // Magnetic (Chosen by Aisling McHugh)

The perfect tune to accompany the current weather! Cannot wait for the Academy 2 show in November! :D
