We expected a stunning follow-up to The Bailey and Loah has delivered just that. Cortege is a sophisticated, intelligent and completely intoxicating offering from the Maynooth artist. The lyrics are in Sierra Leone’s Sherbo but you don’t need to understand the words to get a sense of what the song is about. The music is universal. Each sweet note floats above an effortless marriage of soul, jazz and classical music.

The video was directed by Louise Gaffney (Come On Live Long) and filmed in the beautiful Pickering House in County Kildare. It sees Loah flanked by her backing band which is made up of members from Ensemble Eriu, Manden Express, Danny G and the Major 7th’s, Zaska and more – some of Ireland’s most talented musicians.

We’ve been tracking Loah ever since her impressive performance at this year’s Electric Picnic and there’s been a momentum building with her string of follow-up live shows. There’s a sense that something unique and beautiful is brewing and it’s going to get really interesting from here.
