Back in 2013, Beck covered David Bowie’s Sound and Vision, utilising 167 musicians to transform Bowie’s 1977 song dramatically. The 167 member strong orchestra was conducted by Beck’s father, David Campbell. You may not be familiar with that name, but you definitely will be with his work Campbell’s work can be heard on Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On, Aerosmith’s I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing, and on albums by Metallica, Taylor Swift and just about everything in between. Bowie gave the revamped version of Sound And Vision his blessing at the time, and it’s easy to see why.
