Hello and welcome as always to this week’s Plec Picks!

Incase you’ve never experienced The Plec Picks (listen to older playlists here) or are a little confused about what The Plec Picks are, the GP team jot down what their most listened to songs of the week are and we make a lovely playlist of all the songs for everyone to enjoy. It’s interesting to hear what everyone’s listening to and it’s a chance to hear something different. And you might even discover your new favourite band! As there’s a lot of different tastes in the mix here, every song isn’t going to be to everyone’s liking so feel free to skip to the next song if there’s something that doesn’t float your boat.

Click play once (it’s a playlist) and it’ll cycle through all the videos / songs (so you can just leave the tab open and keep listening).

If you come across something you like, click the social media icons beside the artist and throw them a like/follow and explore what more the artist has to offer.

As always, we hope you enjoy this week’s offerings and be sure to let us know what you’re listening to and you might make it into next week’s edition!

What’s in there?

The Weeknd // The Morning (Chosen by Mark Earley)

Listened to this for the time in a while recently. Love it.

Fleetwood Mac // Little Lie (Chosen by Stuart O’Hara)

It isn’t just this week. This song is pretty much constantly going through my head.

The chorus just smacks me in the face every time I hear it. The vocal repetition throughout also creates an eerie feeling that makes me shiver.

Also, check out how awkward Lindsey Buckingham looks throughout the video. It’s a good thing he became a musician and not an actor.

Deap Vally // End of the World (Chosen by Sean Noone)

I saw these guys for the Ruby Works birthday celebrations back in September and they were excellent. This song has been coming on the radio and it’s really catchy. I woke up this morning and it was stuck in my head. Seems like a good enough reason to include it/

White Lies // Bigger Than Us (Chosen by Sean Smyth)

I love this band. I can’t wait to see them at their own headline show in Ireland at some point. Saw them at EP two years ago and I’ve a craving for more!

Band Of Horses // The Funeral (Chosen by Claire Beck)

I went to see a beautiful play this evening (Tender Napalm @ Project Arts Centre – go see it, seriously) and this song popped into my head after. It’s a hauntingly delicate song and fit in with the storyline perfectly.

SOAK // Sea Creatures (Chosen by Niall Swan)

SOAK, the alter-ego of Northern Irish 16 year old Bridie Monds-Watson has been making serious inroads in the Irish music scene in the latter part of 2012. It all culminates with a support slot for Snow Patrol in Belfast on December 22nd. Big things expected in 2013!

Foals // Inhaler (Chosen by Jonathan Klein)

Foals have been as aggressive as they have on this beast of a track, with a suspenseful verse that builds into a massive chorus. This is easily one of their best tracks, and I am terribly excited for the new album next year

Verbena // My Baby Got Shot (Chosen by Alessio Michelini)

I’m the only one who knows Verbena?

Shuggie Otis // Strawberry Letter 23 (Chosen by Justin McDaid)

Follow @ShuggieOtis1

Shuggie played not one but two gigs in Dublin at the weekend, celebrating his birthday in Whelan’s on Friday Night. This is his best known, best loved song and it’s a beauty
