Well this is something we think you absolutely must view. Already over the past few months Dublin Community Television had some great Irish music coverage with the Community of Independents collective that collaborate with the station.
The documentary takes a look at DIY bands in Ireland, the culture surrounding it and talks to some key figures along the way like Leagues O’Toole, Richie Egan, Vinny Dermody, Niall Byrne, Angela Dorgan, Dave & Julie from Road Records and so many more. It hops between interviews with these people discussing the e-zines, blogs, live gigs and the evolution of music by Irish acts over the past 20 years.
It’s a thoroughly engaging hour of video for anyone who is into Irish music. Put on the kettle, get some biccies and settle into this for the next hour.
The documentary launched on Sunday night in The Button Factory in The Button Factory with The Jimmy Cake, No Spill Blood, September Girls, Crayonsmith, Costello with GI and Nibiru. Season two of Community of Independents is being developed and will feature these sets and interviews.
