Up-and-coming folk star John-Robert – not to be confused with ’70s Sad Eyes crooner Robert John – is set to bring his Alessia Cara and Camilla Cabello endorsed brand of modern Americana to  Dublin this August for a show upstairs in Whelan’s.

Grammy-nominated producer Ricky Reed (Leon Bridges, Lizzo) signed John-Robert aged just 19 and his debut single ‘Adeline’ went onto amass over 11M streams. His latest EP Garden Snake featuring the single ‘Road Trip’ (listen below) and Come Pick Me Up which was later turned into a collab with The Thistle Brothers, has won him a legion of fans thanks to his world-view on the intersection between small-town America and the internet age.

“Garden Snake is a time capsule,” he says. “It was like trying to make a Virginia record in LA. I’m really proud of myself for seeing it through. It was character building, and it’s something no
one can take away from me.”

John-Robert at Whelan’s (Upstairs) on 21st October 2024. Tickets from €13.0 are available from singularartists.ie on Friday 21st June at 10am.
