The Who at 3Arena, Tuesday 23rd

The long awaited return of The Who (this show was rescheduled following a cancellation in November) will finally see these rock legends performing on what may be their last tour. There’s no arguing with the band’s seemingly endless amount of hits, and the band members themselves are sounding as good as ever. Daltrey’s voice in particular has matured into a fine blues-y growl, and this ought to be an excellent event.

The great Fleetwood Mac have been struggling with illness for recent shows in the UK, but by all accounts they turned in a fine show at The Isle Of Wight festival, so there’s no doubting the enduring talent of this group. With another two dates to come next month, Fleetwood fever looks set to stay strong.

Mogwai at The Olympia, Wednesday 17th

Scottish post-rock Kings Mogwai stop by The Olympia, celebrating their 20th year in existence, and their epic soundscapes remain as popular as ever. Their incredibly powerful sound makes for an explosive and brilliant performance, and there’s no better place than The Olympia for this kind of intensity.

And So I Watch You From Afar at The Olympia, Thursday 18th

It’s a stellar week for post-rock fans, with the face-blasting power of And So I Watch You From Afar following up Mogwai. The Belfast band have a new album fresh of the press (reviewed here), and while it’s  a solid effort, ASIWYFA are best experienced live. The sheer ferocity of the band in the live arena cannot be understated and some serious eardrum-blowing is to be expected.
